Book Review: The Genesis Debate
The Genesis Debate presents the three most common evangelical positions on the Seven Days of Creation. J. Ligon Duncan III and David W. Hall argue for the 24-hour View. Hugh Ross and Gleason Archer advocate for the Day Age View, and Lee Irons (with Meredith Kline) present the Framework View.
What is innovative about this book is its debate format. The structure of the debate is as follows: each advocating team presents their view and then their debate partners offer counter arguments. The advocate then responds to each counter argument. The interaction between the debate partners is interesting and engaging.
Whether you agree with the various positions (or not) you will appreciate how the strengths and weaknesses of each position are debated amongst these biblical scholars.
I would recommend this book for persons struggling with the veracity of the Genesis Creation narrative and holding a high view of Scripture as true and reliable.
